Gazi Farhad Reza,
Managing Partner
He is the Managing Partner of Gazi Law Associates. He has completed his LL.B Honours
from London Metropolitan University, UK. He completed his LL.M in International Trade
Law and Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) from the Northumbria University, UK.
He was called to the Bar from Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn, London. He is a lawyer
specialised in commercial law, banking, corporate transactions, Mergers and Acquisition. His
practice areas also include, inter Alia, Income Tax Reference, VAT & Customs, Admiralty,
International and domestic Arbitration. Gazi has experienced working in company and
corporate matters i.e the company formation, rjsc compliance, share transfer, forfeit,
company restructure and corporate governance. He advices on start-up ventures, venture
capital, joint ventures, partnership structure and share market transactions. He has developed
particular practice in international trade transactions, custom matters, Bank companies and
financial institution affairs. He has sound commercial knowledge to provide advice to
corporate entities.
Gazi has worked under the guidance of internationally renowned lawyer Dr. Kamal Hossain
for more than 7 years and assisted him in notable international arbitrations as well as
domestic matters. Inter alia, notably Gazi has assisted Dr. Hossain in Sampra v Argentina
(ICSID Case No. ARB/02/16), Indian Potash Limited v Agriculture Inputs Company Limited
(PCA Case No. 2015-17), Standard Chartered Bank Limited v United Republic of Tanzania
(ICSID Case No. ARB/15/41), Niko Resources (Bangladesh) Ltd v Bapex and Petrobangla
(ICSID Case No. ARB/10/18), Catherine Masud’s compensation claim, appointment of
judges in Bangladesh Higher Judiciary and many others. Under his supervision he has also provided legal assistance to many international organisations i.e World Bank. As a regular
practitioner Gazi regularly appears in civil, criminal and writ matters before the High Court
Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Gazi also worked as a guest lecturer at the
University of Dhaka.
Apart from practicing as a lawyer Gazi has strong interest in entrepreneurship, cross
professional networking and leadership building activities. Gazi is the Co-Founder and
Managing Editor of Adalot.TV which is a YouTube based channel for broadcasting
programmes on law, policy and politics. He is the Founder President of Legal Voice
Foundation (LVF) which is a lawyer led organization working to raise public awareness
among the general mass and he is also the Founder Convenor of Bangladesh Young
Professional Association (BYPA) which is a platform working to unite young professionals
from different professional backgrounds and get them involve in social business through
cross professional networking. Gazi believes Bangladeshi youths have huge potential to
thrive in international market. All is required now the youths to engage more into
international market and bring the experience into local market. He also believes that in the
age of globalization cross cultural and cross boarder experience sharing is the key to success
in the upcoming time.
